some of you know that adrian has been going through an unusually difficult time these past few weeks, this last week in particular. for those of you who do not know the latest, after a few months of great progress, adrian has had a setback during cycle 11 of his chemotherapy treatment.

the week before last, adrian started to show symptoms of neurological problems. over the course of this past week, these progressed to a very serious level and put him back inpatient at sloan. this has been a very scary time for us as we and adrian's doctors have not been sure of what has been causing this for several days. the doctors have been running series of tests. they have alternately suspected a viral infection, an adverse reaction to the chemotherapy, malnutrition and/or a potential underlying problem exacerbated by the chemo, or possibly some combination of the above.

yesterday was a particularly frightening day for us as we awaited results regarding a potential underlying genetic disorder and the possible spread of viral infection. thankfully, neither seemed to be the case. we are still waiting for more conclusive results, but the doctors are now thinking that is an unusual reaction to one of the chemotherapy drugs recently administered to adrian.

in addition to that, adrian's slow but steady progress since tuesday gives us hope that he is fighting whatever has been afflicting him. in fact, mommy and grandma got a little smile today.

we cannot emphasize enough how great a fighter adrian has been throughout this. he has been these past 10 months, of course, but particularly these past seven challenging days. each day he is trying so hard, and as ever, his strength and sweet and happy spirit is shining through. we believe it will only continue to bring him better progress each day.

thank you for your thoughts, prayers and love as adrian continues to regain his strength.

we are also very grateful for all the support adrian has received from his doctors, nurses and other staff, as well as our community of friends at sloan who care so much about him.

we hope to post again soon with continued news.
