hello!

this is a site for adrian and his friends (that's you). please be patient with the content provider as this is most definitely a work in progress. primarily, it is a way to keep our friends updated on adrian's latest developments. we wanted to get something up before his surgery, wednesday, december 12, as a way to keep you posted on progress during surgery and as a way to (hopefully!) keep in better touch in general.

if you've made your way to this site, you probably know that adrian is scheduled to have the tumor in the area of his prostate and bladder removed tomorrow. this is a serious surgery, estimated to last 11-14 hours. adrian is already at the hospital getting ready. they will likely be starting first thing in the morning tomorrow, so if you're up to it, please send extra thoughts of love and strength his way.

the phenomenal thing is that adrian couldn't be in better hands. most of you are probably familiar with memorial sloan-kettering, the renown cancer center in manhattan where adrian will be operated on and where he has been for the better part of the last four months. words cannot describe what we have experienced there and, specifically, how grateful we are for the superb care he has received from the staff of oncologists, surgeons, nurses, therapists, child-life specialists, and administrative staff. there is no way to articulate our gratitude for their work and help here. suffice it to say, many do nothing short of saints' work.

dr. michael laquaglia will be operating on adrian tomorrow. please join the many, many others who keep him in their daily thoughts and prayers. he is reputedly one of the best pediatric oncological surgeons in the world (honestly, people have traveled from all reaches to receive care under his hands) and has literally performed surgeries that doctors across the nation have deemed impossible. please send him, adrian's wonderful oncologist, dr. leonard wexler, the immense staff of radiologists, anesthesiologists, surgical assistants, residents, fellows, and nurses every good thought, along (of course) with adrian.

speaking for the whole urbanski-cowhey crew, we cannot thank you all enough for your love and support. adrian, we are certain, feels it (we surely do).

love,
adrian, erin and matthew
